You are able to challenge either half the ranks of your ladder position or 5 ranks, which ever is greater. If you are position 17, you are able to challenge all the way up to position 9. If you are in position 8, you are able to challenge all the way up to position 3.
If you challenge and lose, you will be declared vulnerable for 48 hours.
If you are challenged and lose, you will be declared vulnerable for 48 hours.
If you successfully defend a challenge, you will be declared protected for 48 hours.
If you challenge and win, you will be declared free.
If you are protected, you may challenge but cannot be challenged.
If you are vulnerable, you may be challenge and cannot challenge.
If you are free, you may challenge and be challenged.
