Hey guys, i have a problem with my pc. Every time i launch a game that runs off the sourceengine2, such as TF2, my computer bluescreens.
Heres wat happens.
I launch the game (fine)
I start to join a server (fine)
Connecting to server....
Retrieving Server Info...
Downloading maps and stuff etc...
Sending Client Info...
BLUESCREEN!
I dont even get to see the servers MOTD before the comp crashes to a blue screen.
Ill send you dxdiag info if need it.
PLZ HELP ME!!! IM GONNA KILL SOMETHING IF I DONT FIX IT!!!
Dedicated gamer; would kill something due to blue screen of death.
I'd recommend backing up your **** & reformatting mate. Blue screen's are NEVER a good sign on windows.
hmm... i was wondering if there was any other solution than deleting a heap of sh!t. I really dont want to reformat at the moment. It only bluescreens for like 1 second before it just restarts, so if that helps anyone any more then.... cool
If your blue looks anything like this Blue Screen of Death [in LCD form]
reformat man.
Im not gonna reformat its my mates, mums laptop. im sure it would be hilarious but just no.

GIVE THE LAPTOP BACK TO YOUR MATES MUM
WHY THE **** DO YOU HAVE IT IN THE FIRST PLACE.

omg that happens to me like every 2nd day i just restart is that ok :S
nah restarts dont work. thanks for trying tho
does anyone know a good driver updating program?
uninstall all video drivers and install the ones designed for your card.
yea thats not gonna do anything, im just gonna uninstall all my video drivers, then install the exact same ones again. plus i have some bs card that like doesnt require drivers.
BTW THREAD MOVED TO SUPPORT SECTION!
Ding ding ding. Alarm bells are ringing.
You jumped to a conclusion right there.
i never said it was some onboard or generic card. Its infact an NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400
it just runs off onboard drivers.
I had the same problem for a while, what antivirus are you using??
https://support.steampowered.com/kb_...hp?p_faqid=150
Try looking at that and see if anything works.
LaptopVideo2Go - Download NVIDIA Drivers & Setup Installation Files (INF)
You download the drivers relevant to your OS as well as the INF. Extract the drivers to a directory then copy paste the modded INF file (nv4_disp.inf or nvdm.inf depending on the OS) to where ever you extracted the drivers and overwrite the existing file.
This should allow the drivers to be installed with the 7400 Go.
hey guys, sorry for bringing back this old thread but im not exactly sure what im supposed to do t3zza. i downloaded a driver package and the INF package thing.
I'm not sure if this is right but i replaced the nv4_disp but it wasn't .inf it was a setup information text document. and inside the drivers folder it was a security file.
But still when i attempt to run a driver setup it displays that it cant find any hardware that match the downloaded drivers.
Mind giving a more in-depth explanation of what im supposed to do?
will getting extra ram , graphics card work?
nv4_disp is my problem to on my bluescreen :S

laptop, cant get new graphics card without a lot of bull****ting around. nv4_disp is my problem i think.
yeah i guess reformat?
mMMMmmmMMMm
probs won't fix the problem if it's drivers.
I had the exact same problem with my card. All I needed was to wipe my drivers (unfortunately I raged and reformatted first) and install the stock drivers that came with my card (again,
) and it worked fine.
Make sure you nuke all of your video drivers before you install new ones.
how do i nuke my video drivers?
mMMMmmmMMMm
WHY ISN'T SHAWN HELPING!!!
haha
mMMMmmmMMMm
If it was built by a 'AIT" techy, they should had given all the drivers to your mate when they bought, just re-install the old drivers, if you tried to put new ones on that ain't for that card, u've well and truly ****ed it up the rectum.
it doesn't let you put drivers for another card on it, because it can't detect the correct card. The old drivers are the ones that are blue-screening, hense the need for updated drivers.
By the way gratz on ur first post![]()
I had this problem I uninstalled and re installed and it was fixed.
Were you ever able to run TF2 before?
or is this your first time trying to play it?
