Windows needs to be activated

So some time 2 weeks ago i restarted my computer, while it was restarting went out side for few hours. Come back and it's on the Log on screen on windows xp with a window saying "This copy of windows must be activated with microsft before you can log on. Do you want to activate windows now?" and has a yes and a no button.

If i go yes it takes me to a new window asking if id like to activate windows now? with 3 options "1. Yes, lets activate windows over the internet now" "2. Yes, i want to telephone a customer service rep to activate windows" "3. No, Log me off"

If i click first option takes me to new window saying do i want to register while i activate or just activate. i chose either one and then takes me to new window asking for a product key.

Now i dont have a product key becuase i bouhgt the pc second hand and ive had to get someone to come out and reformat it cause im terrible. I got it reformated about 3 months ago. Could this problem come from his copy of windows he reformated my pc with?

any help would be rad. thanks

Probably need to call windows are request an additional key... or get the key from the person you bought it from.

if not... prob need to buy/dl a version of win

really need to clue up and use jellybean keyfinder before you format your computer...

the person who formatted it should of actually done that

Does not work properly anymore (Jellybean) and there are other tools which activate XP like OEM copies

which won't be mentioned here due to Warez Linking.

If you phone them, they give you a product key in like 10 seconds (i had to do this two days ago)

Yes...it does NOT activate OEM copies Subnoize and I know what you mean (it gives you the "previous key that was used on the PC)...I know I have tried it numerous times, it provides Keys...and even the keys it provides do not work correctly sometimes with SP3, however its a keygen and that is all it is...I use another program which I won't name to activate any copy of XP to OEM status so it can do all updates.

Emspke..he is running a 640 (aka Illegal) version of Windows....

They aren't going to give him a key, its not a key anyway they give you, its a CONFIRMATION ID.
