Ok, so it started yesterday around 8:30pm and continued on until about 9:43 pm, I checked logs in my router (RangeMax Next Wireless-N Gigabit Router model WNDR3500), it said "[DOS attack: Smurf] attack packets in last 20 sec from ip [112.201.4.255]" and then today at approximately the same time and also just 10 minutes ago, I got DOSD again but this time the logs said it was by another 'attack' called "[DOS attack: STORM]"
It pretty much screws my internet and everything goes very slow and laggy - I'm not quite sure at all about what to do - any suggestions? =(

Do you have a static or dynamic IP?
I'm pretty sure static

DHCP is to do with assigning local LAN ip addresses to all computers plugged into your modem/router.
What you want to find out is if when you turn off your modem/router completely, will it give you a completely new WAN IP address?(static or dynamic) Note the difference here. LAN IP addresses aren't sent over the internet, WAN ones are, and you are given one by your ISP.
What Is My IP Address - Shows Your IP Address is your current WAN IP address.
Alrighty just checked, I was right the first time - I have a static IP.

You are safe until
[DOS attack: Joolz]
DHCP is Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol, used by hosts to get an IP etc. It uses a client-server architecture, meaning DHCP enabled on a server can lease IP addresses to hosts.
if you dont set a static ip on your pc at home, you'll be automatically assigned an address..
When a modem / router communicates with an ISP, usually you're assigned an address from a lease pool automatically. Some ISPs try to charge to use a static isp coz you can set up web services / etc lol.
if you want to stop ddos its simple
summon the kraken and enslave the ips attacking you ;o
Wow I can't stop laughing at the AIM logs. You screwed over his internet so hard to he had to sign in on his mobile?!
Massive stunt, I still don't fully understand parts of it but that doesn't matter because I'm laughing too hard to care. - Hucky on aush0k
Haha thanks for the info ^_^ I'll have another look at it tomorrow and try talking to my mates dad, he'll probably be able to fix it right up haha.
Thanks for help guys![]()
