Fine, here's some quality advice for you. 66 tick is fine. 100 tick, while nice, is unnecessary at this point in time because not only is it usually too expensive, but most providers cannot give you a stable solid 100tick server. The fix is a nuke map that allows doors to be opened properly, as GOOGLE will tell you. You'll be hard pressed to find a decent 66tick server. Good luck; have fun.

Lan servers will run 100 fine because its one server and its a fresh install for that day...Lan is a whole different ball game to Online with Server Hosting as the Lan venue is either 100mbit stable or 1000mbit depending on the setup, there is no bandwidth issues or ping issues as all clients are on the same internal network
100 tick is pointless for an online war server, 66 tick is the standard practice and will often be the best option for cost effectiveness.. Bomb glitches would be something to do with the game more so than the tickrate setting,

Most servers run 66 tick but 100 tick makes the game seem to run better and get way better rego, my opinion anyway. If you had the cash i would go for the 100tick server, provdiding the company can hold 100tick.

Most servers that are around 10 slots with minimal mods on them (like war servers) hold 100 tick fine.. It's just the big 16+ slots with lots of scripts etc that don't.

I just played on a server yesterday that was easily holding 100tick for me. 240fps, 100 in and 100out. Prob is that some ppl have shitty internet, some are capped, some there computers will not run at 100fps stable. updaterate is tried to your FPS, so if your FPS drops below 100, then your outbound will as well.
In the end, 66 prob works better for a wider range of people. But 100tick is best.

Shawn, in this day and age its fairly easy to run a 100tick server. All these new server boxes are coming online now with dual quad cores and fast HDs. They really have no issue holding 100tic. I highly doubt any reputable company is running servers which can not hold the tic. In the end, one 100tic server does NOT use more resources than two 66tic ones. So if a server box can run 6 - 8 war servers at 66tic, it can easily run a few at 100tic.
Issues arise from not enuff bandwidth as 100tic uses more and the FPS issue, to hold 100tic, you need FPS over 100 and you need internet capable of it. My computer easily holds 100tic on the 100tic pub servers that are out there from GA and node etc. There are disadvantages to 100tic tho -worse when capped -cost more -timing is different to 66tic -some maps have issues -ppl with less then 100fps will NOT hold 100tic Advantages -smoother -bhop is easier -rego is better -its the best of the best, what CEVO in the USA use. For a reason. in the end, I think 66tic is better atm the moment because many ppls computers cant hold 100fps and many are capped at different times. Plus its cheaper and the timing is the same as all the other servers. Another issue Australia has, is if your with different ISPs you get different routing. So some ISPs have good routing and can easily hold high bandwidth to any server in AU, while others have cheap routing (dodo, tpg etc) and cant hold high bandwidth to some servers.

For Valhalla I run 5 x 100 tick competition servers on a E2180 and 2GB RAM, runs fine..
Online 100 tick sucks because of the hops between states.. Was playing on x5gaming's NZ 100 tick server as although the tick didn't drop it was fucking shit. My SA server (online) was 100 tick for ages and everyone complained of tick drop / bad rego (tick didn't drop as it was the only server on a 15k Linux box). It was the fact they could hold 100fps and most states route through Sydney and not directly to Adelaide. Now it is 66 tick and no one complains!

Shawn servers that advertise 100tick (pub servers) i have played on all hold 100tick in and out fine. I dont have a flashy computer or net (1500/256) and i hold it fine. FPS is not an issue either. If you have the money and want the game to run smoother and be overall better then go with 100tick. And yes shawn 100tick servers have better rego than 66tick as you actually have to somewhat aim closer to them

In England people woudnt even play on 66 tik servers, it was 100 all the way.
But here net is so shit many people cant support 101/101/50k and niether can the hosts so its kind of pointless. Stick with 66 imo + with capped players the rego would just get even more noticably disgusting.

Overall though if your not capped a 100tick server runs better if the company can support it on its boxes which mostly all can with the new box upgrades. And i dont need to throw on 2 more pcs as 1 gets the job done :P
/complaining about AINC quals #2 melb, ran fucking 66tick servers lol. |
