#19 Lan - GenCon 14 Teams, Groups and Format Announced!!! SUPERSEDED

The details have now been released for the GenCon lan.

Organising 14 teams is tough but I think we've organised the best format we could considering.

Go to here for details: 5th/6th July - BYOC Lan #19 (Brisbane Convention Centre) - GENCON

As I said in the other thread we are willing to give a 15th team 24 more hours to sign up (so by 8am tomorrow morning) which will then give us 3 even groups.

16 teams would of been awesome, 12 would of been average - anything inbetween is really difficult!

Wow thats really lame for group C coming out of groups only to face SE.

Yer Ive had a few people say the groups are a bit weird. But what it boils down to - if you are good enough to win, you'll win your way through anyway.

Blame the community for not signing up 16 teams! Life would be much easier with 16 teams!

Sif not let us double elim out of groups tho we would seed 1st anyway. Im deadly serious btw. Check your PMs DRP, Cheers.

so the team that won the last lan won't be seeded for the finals if they come 1st in groups good system.

Check the website for the details on whose playing. Ive been told all 14 teams are playing.

Double elimin would take 8-9 hours to play out with 14 teams.

I agree the current system isnt the best but with 14 teams its how things fell into place.

As I saw it there were 7 decent teams - they were randomly put into the 3 groups. The remaining teams were then split across the groups.

Rather than bitching about it - get another 2 teams to sign up tonight and then its sweet. Until then this is the format. Sorry guys but its how it ended up.

If you can come to me with a format that you believe is better and fits the same timetable, keeps everyone playing at the same time and gives everyone a fair shot by all means do it. You have til 8 tonight. I dont want every prick whinging on here saying they have a better system. Put your heads together and suggest ONE other option via PM. Base it on 14 teams.

Edit: Ill consider your format - dont read this as getting whatever system you propose.
