I need to find someone who knows how to work on the back end of servers and just generally knows how to use Linux based boxes.

linux for fail imo if you want good techs go with windows as most of the goodies work with it.

Windows Servers are pretty decent too these days

and is where I have the skills

, so sorry empske can't help you there

Linux...well someone else can have fun rebuilding the kernels and the 1000hz boosting

for srcds

Best of luck finding someone good, make sure if you intend on hosting a server its in a decent Data Centre and it has plenty of bandwidth

as well as being decent enough to run gaming servers off (10+)

Extremely vague. What exactly are you looking for someone with these skills to do? Setup a server, maintain it? Give some context (i.e. is this for a gameserver company, a web host, or just a personal project, etc), a timeframe (once off, 3 months, 1 year?) and is it voluntary or paid?

Basically looking for someone to setup and maintain the serve. payment could be negotiable and it's basically a one-off unless we have frequent problems.

It's for a GSP. (and no, I don't run it)

Oh really? You have never encountered an unbelievably experienced UNIX admin?

PS. you might want to give it a go? (Perhaps not on this server, but at home [Linux Live CD], so you get some experience).
