Default Napalmfury Multigaming: PHP Coding required

Hi there,

Now i'm not sure whether this would be the appropriate place to be posting such a request seeing as this is technically the GG Community Project so if an admin feels the need to move this thread please do by all means to the appropriate location.

Basically NF turned to the multigaming idea and realised our website needed to be revamped straight to the point someone apart of our management team has developed a new template for the website but we do not possess anyone with the skills to code it using PHP. Our plan was to develop it through the use of the Joomla CMS application and once that is completed to integrate the CMS with the Vwar script which is effectively a clan management system.

Now as people know to run such an organisation or to get events etc in the works you need a medium to project it to the public this would be the website so we would need someone willing to get started on this project asap. Indeed this isn't just some small task but the NF Management is willing to have money put down to the coder in exchange for their services which will be determined through further contact.

Anyway i hope this appeals to some people as a worthwhile project, for more information or just general feedback please don't hesitate to post in this topic or contact me via irc on #Napalmfury or email napalmfury@iinet.net.au

Cheers

Nick aka reliantRB
NF Team Manager and Owner

NB. If people who are willing to take it on have other suggestions whether it may be a different CMS or ideas like that don't hesitate to voice these suggestions to the NF Management at a later stage

I have extensive exp in joomla and have used a vwar bridge for over 6-7 months.
It's good in theory, but it is not a very clean bridge and users easily come out of sync.

Plus the fact that vwar has not been updated in over a year... the project is pretty much dead as far as I know. Which is a shame, because it's really awesome, but it's really starting to show its age.

There is no open source clan management software out there that is easy to use/looks good/and is compatible with other major open source products, otherwise I'd be using it.

Paying a coder to do this is probably the best way to go.

I've personally opted for a joomla/flash/phpbb3 hybrid, and all of the war/clan management is done through forum mods, not joomla.
The site is very much a work in progress at the moment, but I'll link to it when it's a bit more polished up.

yeah there's no question paying a coder is the way to go just seeing if anyone in this community has a) the time to really consider it b) can start asap

yeah like i said the whole vwar, joomla etc is just something that was tossed up as the initial plan for the website but if the coder that comes aboard feels like another avenue is clearly better i am more then happy to re-work what needs to be done with that person

if your referring to monetary goods then well we have resources but it'll depend on which path we need to take to get started etc

and if the course of action is that vwar is outdated and phpbb mods are far more useful for clan management etc then i'd be more inclined to do that

Bridging two existing applications is an absolute bitch to do. It may well be easier and more cost effective to develop your own type of vwar application around joomla. That way you're only coding one thing instead of hacking at two different pieces of software, which would also save the headaches of trying to upgrade joomla/vwar in the future with customisations strewn throughout the code, which is never pretty.

yeah like i said if people can give suggestions on what can be done through joomla or other PHP based CMS let me know.. i'm not a designer nor a coder i just handle the business side of things and your information is much appreciated now its a question of finding whether there is anyone willing to consider taking the idea on

Scraping the vwar idea and going with either the phpbb mods or the development of a vwar application for joomla sounds good but the question is are their people willing to consider doing it from what i've read so far vwar is out of date and not worth the hassle so the first two options mentioned sound far more viable
