I hate when I have my crosshair on someones head yet i miss the shot. Where the hell did the bullet go? if it did not go where i aimed then y not? was it recoil was i moving etc? I would love a mod that is like a 5-10 second instant replay type thing where after u just sprayed at someone you can replay it in slow mo and get statistics on each shot.
It would be great if it brought up the following for each bullet: trajectory, if it deviated from the crosshair because of movement, recoil etc and if so by what percentage, distance travelled, if it hit what damaged it caused. You think this kind of thing is possible? |

Its very possible. The Half-Life engine (like any self respecting engine with an SDK) includes a 3D trace function to trace a line through the world. Its fairly CPU intensive.. but its possible.

One of the limitations could be that quite often where your client displays someone is not where the server registers them as. So on the server they could have moved but on your client they are still in front of you. I think that's the main problem and it's caused by netcode and etc.
It would make it hard to define why, because while on your client the hit should have registered the server will think that no, it shouldn't. |

yeh i was thinking that which is y it would be cool to see if it with a mod like this be even cooler if it could show the other players hit boxes as well. That way when people go "wtf rego etc" I can get all high and mighty and go "yes bullets 1, 2 and 7 should of hit but due to bad net code dodgy rates etc they didn't", then quit source

Hmm... any way of evaluating why it didn't hit may be hard. If you needed to put a mod or program on the server itself to communicate player positions and etc, it would probably slow the server down a little. Most providers wouldn't really want to include a mod which seems useless and takes away some of their ticks.
It's still a good idea. |

The netcode isn't bad per se, but depending on your ping you have to lead your shots... the higher your ping the further you have to aim away from the person. You get to a stage where you adjust to it automatically, and I could usually take out someone with 3 shots of the pistol (<3 that pistol.) |

there is a command for this, that creates a box every place you hit, whether it be on the wall or a person, a red box is created in mid air, its a sv_cheats 1 command, but i saw it on a server once, was very entertaining.
But what i think you mean is a mixture of this and the kill cam in CoD, sounds sexy
