Got it today from JB Hifi for $79...
So far so good, Darth Vader is fun to play as. I hear Yoda is totally bugged for the Xbox users though. Havent played as anyone else yet, but graphics are superb though mashing is pretty easy to win. |

Got it this afternoon for $35 from EB (used price matching + 2 coupons). This game plays exactly like any other Soul Caliber, I really haven't noticed the difference between this or SC2. The character creation system is really well done, trying to create Solid Snake from Metal Gear by using the Kilik model :P.
The characters are very well balanced, you can't just win by button mashing because that WILL get you no where. I got over the Darth Vader fad really fast, but was quite interesting to use a Star Wars character in a fighting game. The story mode is REALLY short, only goes for 5 rounds and you fight 2-3 people each round with one life. So you can basically beat it under 10mins. I haven't tried playing online yet nor have I tried multiplayer but will be picking up a controller on Tuesday. So yeah, this is pretty much the same as any other Soul Caliber with better visual and some minor battle changes and a **** load of characters, but it's still pretty great. If you end up picking up this game, add grimsteria to PSN and I'll give you a couple of games.

Good game! Fast paced combat, unlimited amount of ****ing attack combinations, they are so many that it will make your head spin. Customization is great and fun, u can buy / unlock characters, buy (ingame money not real money) weapons and rings and stuff. Give your character a unique Skill combination depending on your stats and play mode... i.e. if you want to be defensive, all out damage, mass damage with specials ect...
Oh... but i must say this... DARTH VADAR IS THE ****TEST ****EN **** I HAVE EVER SEEN OR PLAYE. Swear to god!!! I SPENT 1 and a half hours TRYING TO COMPLETE THE STORY MODE ON HARD WITH THAT **** AND IT WAS IN-****ING-POSSIBLE!!! I WAS RAGING SO HARD I WAS ON THE BRINK OF GRABBING MY PS3 AND DROPPING IT OFF A CLIFF. DARTH VADAR IS GAY! In fact, starwars in general is gay... Yoda is green... like boogers.

It makes me cry to see idiots like Yoda in it. Doesn't suit at all its worse than Solid Snake in Brawl.
What the **** is going on?

How great is it to break your opponents armour. You're like spamming them with moves then all of the sudden the lower armour falls apart then their fighting with underwear, It just puts you off focus.
Nothing funnier than fighting a black guy with a huge afro in nothing but jocks holding a giant squeeky hammer. lol I love this game.

Yeah I agree with grimlock. It plays like any other Soul Caliber game.
There are some minor additions since the last one.
Neither of these things have changed anything which I think is a good thing. My only gripes with SC4 would be the loading times feel really long, and I am a little bored with most of the characters you start with. The most fun with this game is still versus mode and it is still really really fun

Been thrashing the xbox 360 version with my mates. Friend of mine works at EB got it when it came out, We've pretty much clocked the whole game siegfried is overpowered and cervantes is still fkn awesome to use.
As far as the fighting style goes the critical finish's are pretty hard but difficult to pull off and are 1shot ko's if you manage it. Its alright but last time I played a soul calibur game was the original Soul Blade on ps1 and I much prefer the original in terms of combat style/combo's/critical finish's. Cbf writting a review + only played it on xbox360 so i'll just do a big rant on it...but its well worth a bash I recommend picking it up if you like the series. I didnt really like the yoda/apprentice/dark vader gimmick + yoda is so fkn hard to hit and impossible to use grab moves on. The customize character feature is excellent being able to choose from a huge range of armors/accessories effecting what abilities, Health, Defence and damage you do. Also being able to fully change the appearance of most characters colour/hairstyle. The different game modes provide a decent challenge which is good because unlocking the 34 characters or whatever it is was fairly easy. Definately worth the play like I said before. Just have to be careful of a few characters who can pretty much 1 move wonder you. Ie. Siegfried not letting you off the ground/yoda lightsabering your arse repeatedly while you swing and miss cause hes a short kent. The stages are pretty cool dont quite have the same effect on the fight as they do in DoA but theres a few cool stages to play on. Enjoyed it. One of my favorite game modes is the Tower. Ascend/descend Playing it with 2 other friends in single player mode is fun. Some levels only let you use 1 character and others let you use upto 4 and its kind of like a survival mode 1 character dies you can swap in the next. My mates and I just choose our characters and play when the other dies. The treasure chests are like challenges you have to accomplish within that match and you get a hint at the beginning of the level to figure it out. And you can level up your characters to allow them different abilities which are like guard breaks/hp recovery/shave damage and what armor you are wearing effects what abilities you can chose with a point system. So say I put a helm on that has +30 to power and my chest piece gives me +50 to power i've got 80 points of power which I can choose an ability for. All have small effects on the fight which wont completely over power you but can make a difference. ie. Shave damage means even if they block an attack they still take a small amount of damage, and there is Shave damage A,B,C. Different levels returns different damage. Hope it becomes big I havent played it online yet but I will asap with my mates see if its any good.
