Unhappy PS3 Display HELP!!!

Ok PS3 Pro's

I need help once again! MUHAHAHAH...

Anyway, because my jewish mum doesnt want my PS3 at the lounge room, ive decided to connect it to my monitor. It is a 19" LG Flatron L1932P LCD... and im using a HDMI Male to DVI-D Cable which connects from my monitors DVI-D port to my PS3's HDMI port.

Here's my dilemma... I've got it all hooked up... and i press the "SOURCE" button on my monitor to switch from Analog to Digital. Think is, when i turn my PS3 off while its connected the Monitor goes on standby... so it is connected. But its just a blank screen... nothing displaying.

SubNoize suggested that i turn the monitor off via plug when it is connected.

But im thinking of formating / resetting the system so that it uses a default source that is plugged into it at the time you plug it in.

Can anyone help or give me some ideas? i might try SubNoize's method first.

/discuss =)

you need to change the resolution the ps3 is outputting before you connect it to the monitor (ie to 720p), it's easy to do if you have a hdtv as well, can be a real pain with a regular tv as you have to change the resolution blind.

o.O eek! ill try that now ty!

EDIT: Well... i changed the resolution to 420p or watever the lowest res is on my Plasma before i connected it to the Monitor. Nah still nothing displaying... but ye it is connected and is working because i turned the PS3 off using the controller.

So i might try change the Video Input blind... but i dont even know which one to choose in the settings!

All in all... i don't think my monitor has HDCP.

This is prolly your problem... you should try connecting the ps3 with the normal AV wires (if possible, or if you have a TV tuner card in your PC)... otherwise you will have to get a monitor with HD capabilities.

YOU DO NOT NEED HDCP TO USE A PS3

you ONLY need it to play copy protected movies

provided the ps3 is set to use HDMI on 720p it will work, the lowest setting is 576i or something which almost definitely won't be supported by the monitor

or what you could do is; buy yourself a new HD TV, and then hook your PS3 AND your computer up to it... ps3 + 80cm wide CSS... sounds good rofffff
