Default PS2 Games on PS3 Console?
Pretty much the title explains it!
Can you play PS2 games somehow on a PS3 console?
ive put a ps2 game in and it doesnt work and says u need some software or something?
does anyone know how to get it up and running?

only the 40/80gb ones cant. the old 60gb ones can.

They're releasing a firmware upgrade later this year apparently which will allow the 40gb and 80gb models to play ps2 games.

well we hope so, becoz otherwise ps3 have gone ****! from ps1 to ps2 they let ps1 games work on ps2 but now ps2 to ps3 WTF!

they removed it because ps2 was/is still selling in high amounts, and they have no plans to outright replace the ps2 with ps3.

firmware to play ps2 games? i hope thats right, cause didnt they take out the emotion engine or somethin out of the 40/80 budget models? meaning you cant render the ps2 games on ps3?

yep, they removed the emotion engine and emulated the ps2 on the 60g model. But emulation was removed for the other models, im not quite sure why as the specs are still fine for ps2 emulation :S

Pure emulation for the PAL PS3s and the engine was in the American model (once again Sony ripped the European market lol).
But the emulation works great. I just hope they keep updating it, even though they don't have to now because of all the new models, so probably not lol.
