Default Media Server

Found a couple of forums this morning detailing how to run a Media Server off your PC thru a network to your PS3 with Windows Media Player 11

Run WMPlayer
Goto Tools -> Options...
Click the Library Tab
and click the Configure Sharing button

Its pretty simple from there, Choose which folders you want to share and search for the media server on your PS3.

Nuthin like streaming movies/music over a network
(If its already been brought up, im sorry for repeating)

Works with a few other programs also, including Vuze.
I've been using it for a while and the only gripe i have is that it takes a while to load, although I am using wireless.

It only really benefits you if you use Vuze as a media library.
Otherwise it's just an annoyance.

Are you running over Ethernet or wirless?

I have trouble streaming HD stuff over wireless but that's just due the speed of wireless. Wish ps3 had a wireless n card option or you could swap it out.

Yeah most of my stuff work, it just seems a bit of the HD stuff and a few movies don't seem to work. They don't quote any error code or anything, just says there was an error playing the file. :/

They vary in size from around 1gb-10gb depending on length and resolution. Funny though, some 3gb files work but others don't.

Don't think so... It plays some mpeg-2 files but not others. Unless there is a codec for massive video files?

Yeah I'm going with a codec problem too, especially if the vidoes are using some new formats like .mkv
