another awesome trailer but doesnt show as much new stuff as the versus one does. One thing i noticed was the summons part. Confirmed ones have been Shiva and Ifrit but looks like Siren and Carbuncle are in this one as well.

note: GA in their infinite wisdom decided to mix the names up i.e. versus xiii trailer is actually the xiii trailer and vice versa

yep 2 diff games - same universe and neither are a prequal nor sequal

ffxiii is like a normal ff game i.e. upbeat etc

while versusxiii is based on reality i.e. it's alot darker etc

Versus for only Playstation 3 worldwide. I guess that puts the speculation to rest on whether it'll be on xbox in the future?

Likewise, style of music and visuals of Versus appeared similar to that of FF7 and 8.

mmmmnah i disagree

i rekon the indoor environments of FF XIII is similar to ff7 and ff8 whereas the outdoor environments and general feel of the game is similar to that of ff10

in terms of Versus, the trailer makes the game really really dark which gives it a totally different mood to the series. dont think i could really compare it to any other FF game.

Think it was the characters, motives, and story that made it horrid for me.

ive been waiting for these fuckin games since ps3 first came out! i loved all the previous final fantasys ff9 being my fav by far, but 12 jus fuckin killed it for me. i couldent even bare finishing 12 it was that bad! hopefully, and by the looks of it this looks like the classics we all love ! with a new and improved battle system and amazing graphics these two new final fantasys are going to be fuckin epic!

should put up the trailer/preview of Final Fantasy 14. Didn't look too bad. I don't have time to play mmorpgzzzz tho

edit: and wtf, FF14 comes out in 2010, as does FF13, and I assume Versus is coming shortly after.... There's gonna be a period of like 10 years afterward where no other FF game is released because they released them all in quick succession. ! I'm predicting a long drought after the releases, and I bet they must be hoping that FF14 keeps fans occupied during this period...

Only Final Fantasy I've played (and finished) was one in an industrial world where magic was forgotten, except for this one chick who you control at the start of the game (running away from authorities etc.). I enjoyed that, forgotten which number it was though.

yeah I was a bit iffy with that, the "running away from authorities as a chick at the start of the game" sounded like 9... but the magic part confused me.

If you've got a PS3 buy the Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children on Blu-Ray off eBay.
It comes with a FFXIII trial.
