    techno

who likes techno on these forums
any favored techno producers among the bunch?
any techno tunes that just changed your life?

    personally my list would be huge so much to chose from.. to name a few;

    steve lawler
    dusty kid
    popof
    steve mac
    butch
    thomas schumacher
    jurgan paape
    robert babicz

    cant forget those tracks like
sidesick - deep fear (phobia remix)
    oxia - domino
dave spoon + pete tong - gas face

just love those solid tracks, no amount of vag can make you feel better than some crisp produced sound rushing through your ears

Popof sounds good from the couple of tracks I just listened to, cheers for the tip.

I'm fairly sure most of the stuff I listen to would be considered minimal techno. A few you might want to check out:

    Gui Boratto
    Laurent Garnier
    Luciano
    Reboot
    Steve Bug
    Josh Wink
    Sharam

    Some specific tracks:

Gui Boratto - No Turning Back
Laurent Garnier - The Man With The Red Face
    Reboot - Caminando

Reboot played at Revolver not too long ago, and Laurent Garnier played Brown Alley sometime last year or early this year. Both were great sets, especially Laurent. I'm spewing that I missed Gui while I was in Thailand though...so many good artists touring recently. Shit has dried up now by the looks though, for Melbourne at least.

    It's irrelevant because they don't do anything...yet.

And astro, you of all people should know that the artist is more important than the venue...

Was just expressing my love for Laneway.
I'll contribute a lot to a venue's holdings. For instance seeing Verse at 318 Gilman was way fucking cooler than seeing them at a Bicentenial Hall in Noosa.

Seeing Yeah Right in a rugsamillion warehouse at 2am was better than seeing them at any other venue.

and ps. wtf are these credit things etc?
this one goes out to the tar in my lungs...

When he created the thread, he was referring to the specific electronic dance music genre of Techno, rather than the broad 'techno' a lot of people refer to.

I'm a big fan of Gui Boratto and was shattered that I missed him the other week :<

Make sure you set your city to Melbourne on the right side of the nav bar.

That also just reminded me, did you catch DJ T when he came out near the end of last year?

As I posted in another thread, I saw Boys Noize last year at Prince and he was horrible. Hopefully for your sake he plays a bit more of an unpretentious set this time - far more likely considering it's at 'boards.

I saw Carl Cox at boards the other week... It was the single most astonishing gig of my life, literally blew me away. I'm fairly certain that Boys Noize could play the best set of his life and I'd still feel relatively unsatisified in comparison.

I've heard from numerous people that the FMF after party in Melbourne was disgusting and Vath was out of it and not in form at all..

Each to their own I suppose, glad you enjoyed yourself and met (well, interacted with him at least) the guy.

tbh i got booted about mid way through 4 being 2 wasted so yea cant really judge
but he was up and about topless dancin with teh crowd haha
ps we actually thought the venue itself was fairly spiffy for a druggy after party

Boys Noize played a ridiculously good set, he scrapped the pretentious electro shit and played a very solid techno heavy set including stranger to stability, blue monday etc etc.
His first hour was a bit messy, but the final two hours were consistent and absolutely hammering

    Great great set.
