Hey man, I'm still training and loving it! 5 hours of krav a week + 1 weights session (gf and work takes up the other time ), I'm so busy but it's so much fun. Had a 3 hour training session on the weekend with the former head trainer of the Israeli counter terrorism school on third party protection (gf/friends/VIP if you're in that work etc). Haven't even graded yet but it feels like I'm learning some very non-vanilla stuff. Definitely wish I started this sooner!

(was too long for one post D
For sparring from what I've gathered in my classes they give us situations (like a guy coming up to choke you) and you have various methods to fallback on to get out of it (long/close distance etc), so you'll usually do that in pairs. Being a civilian version of krav there's no real super death neck breaks I can imagine them teaching us, but if you're military/police/bouncers they'll teach you the things more entailed to your job; for the basics it's self defense, how to get out of it ASAP in the most effective and often most brutal way. When we do 1 on 1 (which is most of the class) you pretend to hit them (sometimes accidentally connect with the odd nut or face, ouch.) hard and fast, it also promotes putting a fair bit of effort when being the attacker to simulate things correctly; many in the more advanced classes have groin and mouth guards for good reason.

It involves a bit of strength but not heaps, more fitness. There are normal classes which are mainly technique, and all classes start with a warmup which will involve body weight actions of some sort. Then there are combat fitness classes which are designed to test your fitness, I haven't seen any yet but from what I've heard they're tough. There are a few kettle bells and dumb bells laying around so i imagine they're used too.

Hey man, three lessons into krav - still very beginner like but having a good time. Learning basic striking (muay thai influenced) and some choke counters (front and back). Watched a non beginner class and one of their side choke counters I saw was amazing, so fluent. I'm very keen to sign up for a 3 month stint.

Haha oh dear you asked! Not that great, managing on average 2 weight sessions a week currently. After I buy a car I should be able to up that, but until then I'm training to maintain. Hows life your end?

Just a weekend holiday atm, I'd love to go see a few more internet friends (like mould) but unless I head down for like a week it's gonna be fair hard.

I'm trying to meet up with a friend of mine who does krav, I'm working now so I can get down to the place most nights of the week, just wanna have a chat with him before I go. I'm fair keen tbh

Yea I'd be very keen for that, I'd be tempted make the trek from syd if I had longer than 2 days (and without the misses in tow haha)
