Rep is simple. When someone +reps you, you get their rep points added to your point total and your rep under your avatar is almost a division of 100 of your total rep points. If someone reps you with 0 rep, its neutral rep. You dont go up, you dont go down. If someone -reps you, you get half of their total rep points minused from yours.

Example:

I +rep you, you get 500 points, which is 5 points under your avatar.
If i minus rep you, you go down by 2 - 3 points.

Keep giving to the community and you gain rep. Simple.
