Alright so here we are, Scout. Scout is NOT a tank class..This is how I play scout..

Scout is a good hero and it might not take much skill using his skills, it's a good asset to your team.
Pushing lanes with max movement speed all the time? I'd want that.

    Spells Build
    Vanish - Level 1
    Improve Dexterity - Level 2
    Electric Eye - Level 3
    Vanish - Level 4
    Improve Dexterity - Level 5
    Marksman Shot - Level 6
    Vanish - Level 7
    Electric Eye - Level 8
    Improve Dexterity - Level 9
    Vanish - Level 10 (maxed)
    Marksman Shot - Level 11
Improve Dexterity - Level 12 (Maxed)
    Stats - Level 13
    Stats - Level 14
    Stats - Level 15
    Marksman Shot - Level 16 ( Maxed)
    Electric Eye - Level 17
    Stats - Level 18
    Stats - Level 19
Electric Eye - Level 20 (Maxed)
    Stats - level 21-25

    Items
    - Strength

    - Runed axe

    - Whispering Helm

    - Wingbow

Items ; I've chosen these items when I play is because I think they are very usefull for the Scouts role.

In my eyes, the MAIN purpose of a scout in the late game is just to push lanes and push them hard. With scouts ennormous speed through his 'Vanish' you can get out of any sticky situation. When your team is neuting/kongoring/chilling you are PUSHING lanes right to their towers then vanish into thin air and reappear on the top lane doing the exact same thing. It gets repedative but that's your job... Keep pushing creeps up in every lane could just win you the game.

Alright now to the fights ; Cleave damage on your runed axe does combine with your Vanish damage burst, giving that an aoe damage burst.

Marksman shot ; This is your call to initiate fights. With massive damage on impact + a slight slow/stun it's lethal. I'd say target the support heroes because killing a support hero just before a gank could win a massive fight for your team, or even the game... No point targeting the tanks as they could just brush it off.

Now the electric eyes. These bad boys are VERY important. Controlling the runes is without a doubt an advantage and if you and your team use them to their full extent, well its GG. Also it's very helpfull for the mid solo, whether it be a need for constant refill for Zeus or just any hero wishing to 'top off' their hp/mana.

    Place the Electric Eyes here ;

    Top ~

    Bottom~

The spots I've chosen are very nifty :]

Electric Eyes ; If you place them IN the river and enemy walks over them they can see it.. = killing it. By placing it on the ledge of the mountain they can't reach it + it gives more sight. The bottom ward is an awesome spot I think, was mucking around and saw that. Perfect to see the river + it gives sight if you are going to get ganked from river ( you can see into bottom forest of Legion abit)

'Well why would runes be such an important thing?' Alright so you've stumbled across an illusion rune. Place scout somewhere safe then start using your illusions for a couple of minutes. Play them like you would play your real character. So many people fall for the illusions if you play them smart and just Ulti them e.g ; Arachna just ulti's you instant killing your illusion.. Now she's without an Ulti in the massive fight about to happen in Mid soon, etc etc.

    Conclusion ;

Late game ; You just PUSH PUSH PUSH (lanes). If most of them are off the map just scout the map, don't run in and solo you are NOT a tank.

Hope this guide helps if you get Scout in sdem/rd :]

it's good to see different perspectives on the characters and how different people play them

for example i really like joshkents Moon Queen build (and I am TERRIBLE at HoN. And now I can finally be half-decent at playing a character through that guide.

Instead of a whispering helm I choose an Abyss Skull for the extra damage, and it still provides life steal. Also after pushing back so many lanes I often opt for a doombringer.

The doombringer brings scouts damage up massively and then you really can solo alot of the support heroes that are around a tank. Now it does drop if you die, but with scout once i've had my doom bringer i've never died. (Also if you do happen to die and it drops the enemy cannot use it against you, they can only destroy or hide it.)

And to me scouts mid/late game role is to harass the shit out of people trying to farm their levels up or stalk solo heroes pushing lanes and then you calling in a gank. I don't do too much pushing lanes back with scout, but then again I haven't played him that much.

Personally, I think you really need to outline the scouts main role which is intelligence. The ability to run around the preempt where and when the enemy is going to try and gank/team push is vital. Also, I'd place leveling up your Electric Eyes more important than maybe dexterity, as strategic placement can give you absolute map control, but this all depends on what role you want to play as Scout!

    Overall nice guide though.

    1. change boots to agility, you don't need hp because you can vanish and escape.

    2. level vanish to level 4 asap. don't worry about electric eyes early game, you should be level 8ish before you leave your lane so no need to go running around

I rather have a lower level Vanish when I'm level 8 (not ganking MUCH yet) and have a Electric Eye on one of the runes helping whoever is soloing + team (dbl dmg for ganks/haste/whatever).

    no wards until level 8?
seriously? You could have at least 2 wards up by then and completely stop any ganks from other lanes.

I don't really agree with the item build. Scouts dps is terrible, it's better to get a shieldbreaker so he'll at least have some presence in team ganks

I see your skill build is of the idea that making everything even is a good thing.

    It's not.

Why bother wasting lvl 2 skill on improved dexterity when you won't be in fights very often and the crit is negligible anyway?
Don't get dexterity until wards are 4 and vanish is 3.

Cleave damage on your runed axe does combine with your Vanish damage burst, giving that an aoe damage burst.
Oh my, an extra 30 damage to every hero within a small radius of the hero you attacked.
You haven't played many games with scout obviously.

Nice work tikal, I would definately recommend electric eye as first level though as once down on one rune spawn you can know where the rune is every spawn.

Also Codex is a G item on Scout, give it a shot ^_^

Codex is a horrendously bad item that can only be used for ksing kills from the carry which will then leave your team fucked late game.

I'm sorry I didn't realise high damage items were supposed to be saved to ks your team, instead of helping your team in giving them all an advantage(e.g initiating a nuker before a team fight to change the fight into a 4v5)

An item that lets you do 600 damage once to one hero in a 5v5 battle and leaves you useless for the rest of it turns it into a 4v5 with your team having 4.

    pretty sure you know nothing
yeah thats a totally good point i'll take that into account cool.

I never bfury that shit you don't need cleave on him, by level 10 or 12 you should be tanking whole waves in 2 or 3 seconds anyway, and I get vlads instead of helm cos the early mana regen is a massive help (not so much any more that they changed vanish but meh).

    steamboots
    abyssail skull
hack and slash (once you have made the agi piece at around level 10 you shouldn't really lose after this)
    basher
    wingbow

I don't know many hon item names lol dota 4 lyf.

    Yeah if I was focusing more on killing I'd go something like ;

    Abysul Skull
    Shield Breaker
    Codex
    Wingbow

    or something along those lines..

I just made the guide as a "push lanes late game" PoV as I think that is his best attribute to a team. Like I said he can push up lanes really fast + hard / take towers / rax whatever and can scout the map if the team is ganking / roshing / whatever truu? :]

But not everyone wants to be one of those scouts who help the team, rather just stay invisible and wait till the team fight is nearly over then ulti / codex the scraps and say "GG LyF PRoz"

Rune sight + neut creep spawn block

    blocks both neut creep spawns.

Kinda sucks that you can only do it as hellbourne though :\

If you're in safety of trees and going to crossbow a hero, decloak first so the cooldown starts from when you start shooting, rather than after.

If all else fails, smash face on keyboard.

    Steamboots
    Sheildbreaker
    Whispering Helm
    Codex
    Wingbow

Is usually a good item build, for me anyway
