Mate if I had 80k in the bank, and I had a wife and 2 kids I wouldn't be wasting money on a gaming rig and a *Pointless* file server worth almost a fifth of my entire life savings.

I agree with everyone elses general opinion - I am not trying to be an asshole I am just trying to give you some advice.

Do you have any investment properties or a mortgage that require interest payments to be made on loans? If so why not dump your $80,000 into those loans and decrease your monthly repayments, thus having more money for every day living where you could spend the excess on buying say more luxuries for your wife and kids, or spending it fixing up your supra?

The technology is going to be worth about a third of what you paid in 12 months. Things get outdated very quickly. You could purchase a three thousand dollar rig, and then sell it for $1000 and buy another one in a year - which would have almost identical performance to the one specified above.

It just sounds like a massive waste of money, and considering how you seem to have a lot by the way you talk, you should use it to buy something meaningful or invest or maybe do something with your life rather than have 20k worth of equipment in your room and neglect your wife and kids while you sit around playing your computer games.

He runs servers, so i suppose it would be cheaper for him to own the server box than rent it out or whatever, pc is a bit overkill but if it is what he wants then let him have it. Maybe instead of saying all this shit about 2k systems and that actually suggest him a decent system for a lower price.

It always makes me lol seeing how sensitive people get when they see other people spending what they perceive to be a large amount of money on what they deem to be unimportant. Has anyone stopped to consider that he might be in a position where the money he is spending on this rig is not a set back for him?

Actually, has anyone stopped to think that it is his money and he will be doing with it what pleases him most, how he wants to spend it.

If it offends you so much the thought that he has cash to throw around on something so 'useless', I suggest you stop wasting your time reading GotGames forums and instead use the time to earn yourself something other than a barely mediocre income!
