21"+, need recommendations..
Do I need 2ms, or will 5ms do?
Looking at LG 2252TQ-PF currently, need more alternatives.
Thanks in advance
be careful cause brands like samsung measure in grey-to-grey which say 2ms g2g = 4ms black to black.
so make sure 5ms is black to black not grey to grey cause then your really getting 10ms which shows motion trail.
Not a fan of the LG monitors. gotten very average reviews. benq, AOC, or samsung do the job fine.
I would pick out of these ones.
BenQ G2220HD 22in Widescreen LCD Monitor - $219
BenQ G2220HD 22in Widescreen LCD Monitor BenQ G2220HD 22in Widescreen LCD Monitor [G2220HD] - $219.00 : PC Case Gear, Delivering quality computer parts Australia wide
BenQ G2420HD 24in Widescreen LCD Monitor - $299
BenQ G2420HD 24in Widescreen LCD Monitor BenQ G2420HD 24in Widescreen LCD Monitor [G2420HD] - $299.00 : PC Case Gear, Delivering quality computer parts Australia wide
AOC 2434Pw 23.6in Widescreen LCD
AOC 2434Pw 23.6in Widescreen LCD AOC 2434Pw 23.6in Widescreen LCD [2434Pw] - $289.00 : PC Case Gear, Delivering quality computer parts Australia wide
remember make sure your response time (ms) is < 10. and make sure its measured in black to black.
made a mistake with my samsung which was 5ms but was g2g which gave me 10 ms b2b which gives motion trail.
and constrast ratio is always 1000:1, the dynamic ratio which is now like 60000:1 is a gimmick as dynamic doesn't work well at all.

samsung 224bw for >$230 at msy
SiMpleMATE[tt] FORMALLY: stick it in her mouth when shes sleeping
SiMpleMATE[tt] FORMALLY: thats how u break the friend barrier
SiMpleMATE[tt] FORMALLY: and enter the rape barrier
eh don't get 21" They no good for anything,
Spend that extra $200 And get a "25-30" Because You will not only enjoy it for gaming, but You will also enjoy it for tv. =]
I haven't had good experiences with the cheap line 22" samsung monitors.
benq, aoc, are alot better, the more expensive 26+ samsungs are good, but yeh samsung is a little over rated for monitors. not the best image quality.
Also he ment 21" +. if your getting a new monitor stick around 24".

I recently got an ASUS VH232H 23inch. I think its decent.
tyty
practically no different between [actual] 5ms and 2ms. I survived a long time on 12ms stock acer, worked fine afaik.
Pick a few models you're looking at and hunt around for reviews by users and reviewers, is the best thing to do. Half the time it's impossible to tell monitors apart just by the specs these days anymore.
Whirlpool often has heaps of users reporting back how their monitor puchases went.
Another thing to be wary of is if you want a 16:10 1680x1050, or 16:9 1920x1080
around 22", 23" you can get both resolutions, I think its mostly personal choice which res you want these days

Week ago got a 22" Samsung 2243BW SyncMaster... Does well for me xD
good thread, ill be wanting a new monitor very shortly.
oh wait its just a grenade..
i've been looking into a new monitor as well. i'm leading towards the "BenQ E2200HD" or the "BenQ G2220HD".
i've skipped over these: (and a few more)
New monitor
BenQ G2220HD 22-inch LCD monitor - Reviews - Hardware - Monitors - LCD Monitors - PC World
BenQ E2200HD 22in LCD Monitor Review - Monitor Reviews - TrustedReviews
E2200HD has hdmi port and speakers, and doesn't cost that much more but it in reality it's just some gimmicks that i'll probably never use.
choosing hardware is so finicky ~_~ i'll probs be happy with what ever i end up getting though D:
post what monitor you end up choosing and a small review :> (i'll probably do the same)
I got that monitor, viewing angle isn't good at all, you gotta sit directly in the middle otherwise it darkens on angles, and you get motion trail with 10ms b2b.
colours are ok on it but yeh I don't like 22" resolutions with 1680x1050 as the pixels are way bigger you don't get as a good image quality say on 24" res or 1680x1050 on a smaller screen.

inb4 gambla makes a thead about monitors
SiMpleMATE[tt] FORMALLY: stick it in her mouth when shes sleeping

I use a Samnsung 2443BW, its a great monitor.
BenQ G2220HD 21.5in Widescreen LCD Monitor - 5ms - $199
LG 2252TQ-PF 22in - 2ms - $231
Can't decide, need help again.![]()

The only reason that they all get to continue living like kings is cause we got our fingers on the scales in their favor. I take my hand off and then the whole world gets really fuckin' fair really fuckin' quickly and nobody actually wants that. They say they do but they don't. They want what we have to give them but they also wanna, you know, play innocent and pretend they have know idea where it came from. Well, thats more hypocrisy than I'm willing to swallow, so fuck em.
Hey SHo, FU.
No noticeable difference between 2ms and 5ms and another hint Deathdog...Run it through a DVI lead....digital quality shits over analog vga leads which do create blur no matter what you buy...
DVI > VGA
Errr sorry, I know I should show more respect to moderators... but that is completely wrong. I can instantly feel the difference in a 2ms and 5ms screen.. the mouse movements feel alot smoother, it basically gives you that "CRT" feel on an LCD. I ESPECIALLY feel the difference seeing as I have my MS3.0E polling rate overclocked at 500Hz. I know these are niggly things, but if you are a high level gamer I HIGHLY recommend paying extra for 2ms. (Feels awesome on 1.6, Source you don't notice it as much.)
/My input.

Spend the little bit of extra dosh and get the 2ms, otherwise you're hindering your performance really.
#rockstar
Its pretty much spend 30 dollars to get 2ms, or spend less to get 1080p :s
Still not sure, probably going BenQ atm though
no your wrong, there are no screens I can think of that are 2ms b2b, there all usually 2ms g2g or 4ms-5ms b2b.
g2g is a marketing gimmick.
To some it up go BENQ, both monitors are 2MS G2G which is 5MS B2B.
god some of you are thick and get caught into the marketing gimmicks.

For your price range they will all be shit TN panels (look horrible) but they refresh faster so are better for gaming!

g2220HD on my desk right now, ty boys, thanks gambla.
Sweet as..Tell me how you find it....I am on the hunt for some new panels
Costs and Stores would be ideal too.
I'd hope so :P
You mean test patterns?
TN all the way, I have my Trinitron for anything else!

Spva and IPS are good enough now easily for gaming. The response time is no longer an issue.
BUT price is.
TN are still the cheapest by far.
If I was ever going to buy another gaming monitor I would get one thats native is 1600x1200, would be perfect for 800x600 in-game![]()
