End of the day though Jam and Carter
FPS is what Matters...
Sure its cheap and sure the Phenom II is close...its a far cry in the overclocking department...
Look at some of the benchmarks Shawn, I know it doesn't compare to the dual cores for gaming, but it's beating or matching more expensive quad core solutions. (such as the q9450)
If you want a quad core, but also want to "get your game on" then the phenom II's seem to be a good option.
And the tri-core 720 carter suggested is much better price/performance than the e8400...

amd has taken over intel in performance at mid range. intel is still better at top range

With the harddrives don't get WD Greens....they are power saving harddrives and wont perform as well, im having problems with mine, if you want a good fast performance harddrive for gaming get a Cavier Black instead. The WD Greens are fine for storage (music/videos) but not for a OS/Games if thats what you meant on your list.

disagree on the $1500 system, quad core is essential now, and 4GB is minimum, 2GB :S
upgrading to i7 and will make a huge difference.

You should have builds for AMD too.
They are quality and are cheaper. Also come with 3 year warranties

no core i7 machines??![]()
that's retarded.
an e8500 is not better than an i7 lol. Just because it performs better in one game doesnt mean itll perform better in all of them, dipshit.

Wow, a cpu performing 400 mhz lower gets 1 less average fps?
Is it even work doing a benchmark if the different cpus are only going to make 1fps difference?
They don't just design CPUs for gaming, either; although those sales would take up a decent proportion of their higher-end stuff, I'm guessing. Check out image/audio/video processing times on the intels
AMD not doing so well now ey? Intel beats it by a whole 1 fps!!!!!!!!!!!! It even beats the 4 core 3.2ghz 940 as well! MUST BE AWESOME

For intel actually making some perceptable wins in benchmarks.

How can you say e8600 is great value for money?

E8600 goes further though on the overclock
E8500 though is better value for money!
interesting thread thanks for posting :P
hahhaha you need to do some reading, quads are still NOT essential and not recommended as a gaming system. 4gbs not minimum at all 2gbs is still fine if your still running xp the newer os you may want 4. i7 WONT make a huge difference apart from leaving a bigger hole in your pocket
Thread has been unstuck. If anyone wants to create a new one and update it I'll sticky it.
fuck summer
If someone could create a new one it would be greatly appreciated!
I'm in the market for a new PC, looking to spend around 2k without monitor, keyboard, mouse etc.
