Around here when they start reverting to insults they know their wrong. Sho is one of those guys who likes to think he knows all when really he just jumps the bandwagon and as for Joel (sasq) he likes to suck the penis (bandwagon) the most. You're aware that the 'hum of pure power' is a barely audible sound at a substation, let alone at a PC. Everything making noise inside your computer is mechanical...

resisters generate "noise" when they are running hot and if you have largeish PSU the thermocouples will make a little noise that's noticeable to the avg person

Um, how big is big. My 1kw psu is silent if i impede the fan. You would need horrible low-grade resistors to produce noise from wall-voltage/current

i've got a few tt and coolmaster ones that have done it, its a very high pitch noise and hard to hear.

Only time i've heard that is from a corsair PSU that was being juiced higher than it was capable. A stressed PSU making noise isnt exactly a use-case scenario. That's like saying "dogs scream" - "no they dont" - "yeah man when i cut its legs off with a knife it screams". Sure it happens in a minority of scenarios, but you cant describe it as a feature that any normal PSU (or even abnormal) would notice

double quad crossfire, havnt heard that before. also notice no crossfire bridges on those.

so which knob would bother going to the effort to put 4 x 6990 in crossfire, and watercool them, when the configuration is not even possible?

Im a pc junky too, but no point doing something that is a complete waste of time, and useless.

turns out the IDE drive (yes IDE, don't have anything else spare) is full of bad sectors and can't get a OS on to it. might rip out a hdd from a netbook and see if I can get some pics of it the pc running for the comp.
