I'm a bit of a gimp with the whole host thing, could I just get some clarification.

I've read that the host should be alternated between games. Doesn't the game automatically pick a host based on who has the best connection? Or have I just been reading wrong for the past few months, and the party leader is automatically made host?

Otherwise, are we expected to block ports with our routers and stuff to ensure that the desired person gets host?

Ok hooters, heres an alternative. Say You have 1mb upload and want to host. You make the party by yourself, and say its team slayer and the time limit is 10 mins? Make the time longer to say 15 mins. Start the game by yourself, therefore you receive host. Get everyone to then join your game and not move from spawn. Once everyone is connected start playing at say 13 minute mark.

Clear it up a bit?

Ah OK, so that's the way it's usually done?

Basically if you have problems getting host, then that's the best alternative. Rather then block router ports etc. I know they have done it in the past for other online halo competitions.
