Before I launch into a lovely little tirade, I'd like to congratulate the Halo 3 community for rallying behind the GG ladders and helping them take off. 36 teams (Although a couple are inactive and need more members) is a huge effort, and shows that Halo 3 is still the lifeblood of the competitive console community.
/endtirade The launch of Season 2 is looking at the moment to be on the 6th of October, although dependent on how long the Finals for Season 1 take this could be pushed back. However I'll notify as we get closer. Season 2 will be the solidification of the GotGames.com.au ladders, and will look towards implementing a strong ladder system for the end of 2008 and the beginning of 2009. My mission is the following: To provide the Australian and New Zealand Halo 3 communities with an ongoing ladder that will encourage and reward competitive play. Whilst we're still a fair way behind the States and their MLG, I do intend on trying to implement a 4 seasoned ladder competition that will give prestige, and prize money, to the ANZ Halo 3 communities. To those who have been around long enough to hold the dream, I'm essentially trying to get competitive Halo 3 in Australia to finally hit a level of continuity and sustainability. Season 2 will see the implementation of the CEVO Ladder system, which is run on a different site but still run by GotGames.com.au admins. Essentially, it will be a Pay-to-Play system with all money going towards prize money. --- Essentially, we will have for Season 2 the following: Professional Ladder - 8 teams; Run through CEVO system, Pay to Play Intermediate Ladder - 8 teams; Run through CEVO system, Pay to Play Open Ladder - Unlimited teams; Run through GotGames.com.au ladder. Free to enter. At the end of Season 1, the following will occur: The lowest placed teams in the Professional ladder (7th and 8th) will be relegated to Intermediate. The highest placed teams in the Intermediate ladder (1st and 2nd) will be promoted to Professional. At the end of Season 2, the following will occur: The lowest placed teams in the Professional ladder (7th and 8th) will be relegated to Intermediate. The highest placed teams in the Intermediate ladder (1st and 2nd) will be promoted to Professional. The lowest placed teams in the Intermediate ladder (7th and 8th) will be relegated to the Opens ladder. The highest placed teams in the Opens ladder (1st and 2nd) will be offered an invitational to the Intermediate ladder. --- In this way, teams will move up and down according to skill, and the best teams should always be in the Professional ladder and given the opportunity to play for higher prize money. The Halo 3 community is a reasonably stable one, and clans / teams usually don't change names. I would encourage teams that even if their line ups change from time to time, to continue to keep the same name as name changes will be strictly monitored. In this way, teams will be able to build up some strong history and reputation within the community itself. I have exciting plans for the future, and am hoping that I can continue to support and build bigger and better competitions and tournaments for the Halo 3 community. |
