AHAHAHAHAHA wtf is teaching someone to aim? its all time spent.
pity nearly all the best aimers in the world (dm players like q3) use mouse accel.
Only people with superior reflexes can handle mouse acceleration.
The rest are 2nd rate.
hmmm im still undecided about mouse accel and whether its an advantage or not. I still rekon its what your used to is what is best.
i used to use mouse accel on my old basic logitech mouse and it seemed fine for me, altho when i got my g5 i turned it off. Just get used to something and snap skulls![]()
Good to see you got something from it Sam and good to see you let Huk know you appreciated it.
Have a look in the rest of the articles section at

If you look at it from a physiology point of view it will be easier for your brain/nervous system/muscles to remember how far to shift the mouse with mouse acceleration off as all your brain needs to know is how far to shift the mouse to get to point A.
With mouse acceleration on your brain needs to know how far and also how fast to shift the mouse to point A.
The key thing that Huk has said is to keep it all consistent, constantly changing your settings will not make you a consistent player.
if you want consistency, you should consider smoothing out your movements rather than relying on the wrist, or just flicking in general.
its kind of the same as putting in golf, where you more or less make your arms a bit rigid in order to ensure the putter hits the ball at the same speed every time so you dictate how far you hit the putt by how far you swing, not how quickly you move your wrists.
of course lots of wrist flicking is nice, and you can certainly get very good at it, but moving the mouse smoothly all the time is a more logical path, or something. ive sorta forgotten the words to close this off properly, but hopefully someone more intelligent will know what im talking about here![]()
for aims just check out japs clan or myg0t and youll get full cpl aim thats where i got mine from
From about 2 months after I started playing (I have G5), I turned mouse Acceleration off, had a Windows at Sens 7, had 800 DPI and Source Sense of about 2.7. About 4 weeks ago I turned it down to 1.7 and still found that it wasn't what I wanted. So 2 weeks ago I randomly switched to 400 DPI in pub and my aim improved instantly and consistently...just had to camp because i could barely turn.
I must be someone suited to incredibly low Sens. For the first week it was extremely uncomfortable and even though I was shooting better I could barely do a 180. Now 2 weeks later i'm moving with practiced ease. If you don't like or cannot understand accell fix, try it with a setting that makes your Aim so much better but hinders your movement just as much.
When you get used to the movement your aim will still stay consistently accurate. It might not work for everyone but it might help one or 2.
Anyone reckon they can help me? If I shoot over a long distance (even a single shot) the recoil is massive and always puts my aim off. Any tips?
one shot bursts @ head, or crouch + aim.
hold down mouse1 and shake it around like a mofo your bound to get hs's
Sounds like u might b using cl_crosshairscale 99999. Which is impossible 2 aim with IMO. To reduce the recoil pull down ur mouse slightly as u shoot and practice this in ur own server, a good map 2 practice this this is aim_ak-colt_v3, aim_ak-colt_v4, aim_ak-colt_v5. Hope that helps.![]()

thats y ur recoil is like it is.
use cl_crosshairscale 2500 and a reasonable sens.
Easy for you to say, you've all got leeet comps. If I go above 800*600 I get <30 fps and it aint fun.

Crowe i'm 100% with you on the whole dpi thing, for about a year i've been using a razer db (6 months) and then a copperhead (6 months) both using dpi ranges of 1200 and 1600 recently i've gone back to my old 1.1a and definitely seeing an increase in consistency. tbh for fps games the highest dpi i would use is around 800dpi range if you want to use a normal sense that isn't like .5 in console (haha) my sensitivity on 5/11 in windows with cpll mousefix ranges from 1.8-2.5 enough to turn around in one and a bit swipes... these new range mice are all nifty and all but too be honest, i'm definitely more consistent on dpi ranges lower than 800 but thats just me so yeah.
i think there's been a general shift to lower dpi even tho all the new range mice feature very high dpi ranges for "extreme precision" however fps games like cs where recoil and steady aim is a primary factor involved you don't need this extra dpi which just makes you have to tweak further your windows sensitivity driver settings (if u use them) etc.
an example of what i'm saying is the old 1.6 sublime team sponsored by proGamer when they got the razer contract they all had to use the razer mice after the contract finished if you ask any of them, they hated the mice saying they were far too sensitive most of them went back to v3's and the like so yeah really up to the individual i guess *shrugs* for games like quake3, painkiller and warsow alot of people like high dpi flicky sort of aim where recoil isn't really a factor

The fact flamethrowers exist proves at some point in time someone said to themselves you know what? I really want to set that guy on fire but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.
You really should play warsow huk, aim = skill in warsow. =]

Aim = Skill in css as well![]()
Yeah, I agree. When I moved from my MX-518 on 800dpi to the G5 with 2000dpi I found that it was really inconsistent. Some of the flick shots seem to act strangely, the movement is skewed, both directional and in length of the swipe.
I have gotten used to it now and can anticipate or counter the strange movement, but am regretting changing from a laser mouse to an optical. I know I can lower the DPI again, but I cbf because I have gotten all the settings perfect now.
Nice tut Hukfoo! I remember you showing me these before.
I use optus and its fine.
crosshairscale medium
anything bigger i can't aim
anything smaller i can't aim
