Online yeah... that in itself is a bad habit for when you go to lan play... I hold lines online and quite often get smashed by the running man, but when it came to lan my line holding often resulted in 2-4 mans
The fact flamethrowers exist proves at some point in time someone said to themselves you know what? I really want to set that guy on fire but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.

I think the biggest thing to do, is the unexpected. Its when the enemy doesn't expect you to push around the next corner, or to have rushed/pushed past their flash and into their face, or when you've changed position from a well held ground... that they won't have the reaction time to stop your bullet in their face.

Granted, I do this way too much atm and it ends up being too risky usually, but I'm working on the balance.

The game is too dynamic for anything specific to apply all the time, but an aggressive push should only be done if:

    a) you have nothing to lose
    b) you have everything to gain

A good player will know their limits and be able to assess these factors in real time when the need arises.

But with experience you can usually not have to access a situation as you know most possible outcomes already.

I think the basic crux of the article is to play to percentages.

Of course in any position there are at least 10 different situations you could be in and in 4 of them breaking general 'rules' of what to do, is the right thing.

Always play to stack the odds in your favour. If it involves you staying alive and falling back so your team can perform a quick clean-up retake, then you should be doing that. If you need to take a risk to pick off two enemies before they take too much controlling map area, then you should be doing that.
    etc.

Exactly. Play the odds and play to keep your opponent off-guard e.g. Pushing as a T with bomb down on a 1v2 when you know he's alone to put you into a 1v1.

pretty sure my entire team does this and it pays off because it makes you unpredictable e.g if your a T rushing jungle and your team mate dies in front of you, you assume s/he isn't going to push so you pull out a nade flash w/e and the Ct peaks you, profit.

I'd be on atleast 50 rep power if it wasn't for martiN2h and his phaggotory crew. I just came home, opened my laptop all cosy in my bed, load up GG, see all the likes i received, then see my rep power go down. Hahaha

*nikoee out all day having fun*
*martiN2h home all day planning his schemes to lower my rep power, and obviously you and a few others*

little does he know, not a fuck was given. Strong age to maturity ratio martiN2h you stupid phuck hahaha. He must be 12 (srs), or simply has down-syndrome which has obliged him from leaving the basement. Normally we all know this isn't true, but in this case, i don't see how it isn't.

edit; but one thing he still doesn't understand is, i always get repped, because the content i post is all quality. All his reps are from his phaggotory crew.

Just rep him back like i do for the lols'

That's why you lost to infamous or w/e the other day. It's RISK:REWARD situation. Usually it's better to hold or move position, Rather than launch and push randomly. Obviously it can work but if it's good team vs good team, Then you are going to lose that reward(unless you are padz).

I think it's good in certain positions not only map wise, Carpets, ramps.. etc but also situation wise, If a T is planting they are 'disabled' from the gameplay. So if it's 2v1 and one of the two t's is planting, It's really a 1v1 so it's okay to take advantage of that.

    basically this.

article was written over a year ago haha, but I bet I could re-write it much better now and would scrap alot of things.

Like numky said, it's risk:reward and deciding whether to take that risk or not comes down to a LOT of things such as whether your team is currently in the advantage of the round or not.

I think it's good in certain positions not only map wise, Carpets, ramps.. etc but also situation wise, If a T is planting they are 'disabled' from the gameplay. So if it's 2v1 and one of the two t's is planting, It's really a 1v1 so it's okay to take advantage of that.
err Ok numk, you guys hold passive that's why you lost to variaNt 16-1 etc (stupid card to play).

We lost to variant because we had to play with a 6th that we just picked up and we weren't prepared. NOTHING todo with pushing or risk:reward >_> LOLZ
