![]() Your Playing Style!!! Sup all, It's been a while since i have posted content about my Advanced Strategies Series. Well the time has come to finally work out what kind of player you are in this game. Whether your the first man in.. the last man in.. or the bloke baiting your whole team. Well.. i hope your not the baiter because your obviously not a team player and should head back to GA Public Servers, and close this window right now. But wait.. what if you don't know you are actually baiting your team? lets work it out now! So pretty much this game comes down to 4 playing styles. Styles. 1. Pointman - First man in the site, not scared to die, tries to get entry frags. (Team Player.. IF his team supports him properly) 2. Backup Pointman - 1st/2nd in the site... not scared to die, trades frags, secures site, uses flashes/smokes to cover team mates. (Team Player) 3. Picker - Always in the site but will wait around and check anal.. takes his time to support team mates, patient. ("Wait n Pick" Style of play.. A captain/caller can tell him to sit some where and wait for push and he WILL do it.) 4. Sweeper - Last in site - Checks every where.. even rechecks spots. Waits behind and allows his team to be comfortable with there position because he is watching anal. All of these positions in a clan take different individual skills. Thats why you must choose wisely as it could make you look like a bad player if you are doing something your not meant to. A good clan is made up of all these playing styles, whether your an awper or rifler you can still be any of the playing styles. Find out what you are!! (all examples are on Terrorist and map de_dust2 on a full buy) Alright. So you your the player who just buys there gun hears a call like "Just Pick" and decides "Ok, I'm going to B hard but I'm going to go lower and pick short from double boxes." Yes your helping your team by watching the Short push but are you really helping..? are you going to be there to save a teammates life at LONG? or B? no your not you are going to save someones life who is at short. Thats great, but i suggest you tell every what your doing and keep an eye on your radar to see what people around you are doing. Right now you are a "Picker" just waiting around waiting for something to happen. Have you ever thought about the fact that your waiting for one of your team mates to die? or your pointman to get the entry frag? Well guess what. YOU ARE. Thats your role in your team. So stick to it. But make sure your always picking some where that will allow your team to secure there position. By watching short from lower your allowing people in mid to get a mid pick as they don't have to worry about someone pushing short with a flash and getting a quick 1-2 down. So your goal now is in your next match to tell your clan members exactly where your watching, tell them i need someone to watch b-dark. And there you have it you have a b push covered (can be an easy kill for a picker) and you also have short held an easy kill if pushed. You are a picker. You spawn close to A.. actually make it Long. So you buy an AK full nades and hit long as hard as you can using all your flashes and the first man out of long. You're a pointman at this point of time. You are the man with the sharp aim, the talent of not caring if you die because you feel your team will back you up and get the traded kill if you do die. You will take a flash and keep going, you will not full back and block your team mates. Does this sound like you? well if it does, your lucky because its hard to find players like this these days. Especially on source because players are more timid and take there time. But in all honesty every team needs this type of player.. actually 2 of them. to back each other up and rush together. When you get flashed usually the other team is flashed too because you always throw one first.. or back.. vise versa. So just go go goooo. If your a caller and notice you have a player like this or someone puts there hand up you need to work with him and tell him what his goal is for the round. You are a [Backup] or Pointman The caller calls rush Short. You are the player who will be last in the line. The man who will allow the team to run in and try for entry frags. You will wait behind for a while to watch the quick rotations you will try to do something silly like drop down to mid and go ct spawn. The man that wants the cheap kills. Yep you're not really a team player but you do play a role that is needed in most cases. Your wise, your a quick thinker and you have patience. Great! you can now stop your team from worrying about being killed from behind or some where that there not aware of. Just remember you must call players by numbers.. call flashes by how many you see, anything you hear you need to call to give your team awareness. You can only have 1 sweeper because you need 4 team members attacking the counter-terrorists to be able to secure a site. You are a Sweeper You are last alive every round, your kills are easy because there already damaged by your team mates. You are the legendary Baiter Example Call on de_dust2. You normally have around 7 Seconds to make a call, you also need to call money and make the decision of a buy, deco or eco. But here is one if you have enough money for a full buy. "I want a picker at B.. picker to push through dark to lower double boxes and pick short. I want 2 pointman at long to try and secure it if you gain long wait in pit. I will sweep at Middle watching for a mid push." Everyone should know now what there doing and once a frag is made the caller can decide on rotations. Notes. Remember there are teams that play defensive and there are teams that play aggressive. Your caller will need to work this out and figure if picking or full team rushes will be the way to win the match. Whether you change what you are doing all the time it doesn't matter, your playing style comes out when there is no call... or a simple call like "Pick A... Pick B" Questions. - Do i need to have sharp aim to be a "Pointman"?; Yes, you do how ever you need to be able to avoid flashes, have good awareness and a brain that knows when its time to rotate. Aim isn't the only thing as you can gain advantage with flashes or surprise rush. - Should the caller be the "Sweeper"?; I believe so, because your caller needs to be alive to make a positive impact in the game, you don't want someone dead telling you things. I know sometimes this happens but you can stop that by having a backup caller. But it is not necessary to only be a sweeper you can also be a picker or pointman. But a Calling Pointman wouldn't be the wisest decision made. - Should i change my playing style to suite different teams?; In some cases yes you might have to, but then is this the right team for you? will you show your true colours? will it bring the best out of your game? thats for you to decide but if you feel confident in doing so then sure.. give it a go. But i wouldn't. - What style is the best?; In my opinion if it matters, i would say a pointman. Because you will get noticed quickly by other teams and you will be appreciated for your frags and work. I'm not saying it definitely is, as its your own decision. - What style is the worst? Theres no worst style. Maybe Baiter though. - What you can do to help your Captain/Leader; Let him/her know what your comfortable with, try to work with him in dry runs to what you are capable of producing. Listen to calls, don't think your smarter than your caller even if you are. The last thing a caller wants is his calls overrided. - What your Captain/Leader can do to help; Read this dam article and take your time to learn it. Show it to your team. Go into a private server with your players and work it out. Write it down. Get some basic strats down that use this method of play. - What am i (paulstadoN)? If I'm calling for the team I'm in, i usually am a picker ill wait around for pushes and try to get frags from the other teams mistakes. However if I'm not calling I'm a pointman, straight in baby the way i like itttttt!! haha. Conclusion. In conclusion i hope you as an individual try to figure out with your clan the role you play. This could make a massive impact to your team and win you rounds you would never win before. But remember it could also make you play worse, so choose wisely and it would be awesome to get some feedback with people trying this method of play. Just give it a chance it will take a little while but it will pay off. It will bring your team closer and allow you to utilize the game and use players to advantage. Thanks for reading!!
