ALERT: CANNABIS SYNDROME

There is mounting evidence to support the existence of a syndrome afflicting heavy cannabis users, after the world's first cases were found in South Australia.

The condition "cannabinoid hyperemesis" was first identified in a group of about 20 heavy drug users in the Adelaide hills in 2004, and a new case has emerged this time in the US.

The syndrome is characterised by nausea, stomach pain and bouts of vomiting - ill effects which, oddly, sufferers say they get some relief from by having a hot shower or bath.

This is the biggest headline currently infecting the sydney morning herald website so expect it allover tomorrows paper.
The thing i find ironic about this is the gigantic stink being kicked up over it, CANNABIS SYNDROME ZOMG!!!11oneone yet little attention it payed to the overwhelming ailments caused by alcohol and tobacco, in retrospect this is infact a very insignificant development.
The article goes on further to state:

"In the US case, the sufferer had been smoking marijuana daily and in heavy doses for six years. This eventually led to bouts of vomiting lasting two to three hours daily, and this was worse after meals."

DAILY, HEAVY DOSES, 6 YEARS.
Now, had that been alcohol he wouldve lasted half that time before he developed a serious disease or his liver just upped and a-sploded.
This just furthers the negative connotations surrounding marijuana, which in hindsight is a fairly harmless drug when used responsibly.
As a recreational user this really isnt the greatest news, huge efforts are underway in the USA to have cannabis legalized or at least de-criminalized and this 'study' is going to do no good whatsoever.
Moral of the story: too much of ANYTHING is a bad thing.

although i do agree, weed is harmless when used in moderation. same with everything.

EDIT: I better edit that, because on re-reading it may seem that I agree that if you take heroin in moderation, it is harmless. What I mean is too much of anything is usually detrimental to your health
