Even though there's minimal information about what happened from an outsider's perspective it still looks to be one of the worst run CS Source comps that's been hosted in Australia. It's a real shame because there were some fantastic teams there and a few really close games :<

Nevertheless, props to all the admins who were there trying to pick up the pieces. The only ones I know of were Cloudstrike and syntax, but I'm sure there are others that deserve recognition.

Please retract my comment, that was Dripskii posting my account. I enjoyed the LAN, at least what remained of it, despite the mishaps along the way.

They'd have been happy letting us play on, but the venue was about to kick us all out.

yeah the same thing happened to the guys playing in the lower bracket final at egames. The power at the venue is only paid up until a certain time then gets switched off regardless.

    1. network outages werent due to the network gear itself, but several fucktards on the network who caused amongst other things, network looping, packet storming and power outages. Amongst other things, this forced us to shut down our wireless APs.
    2. Reloaded has previously run on Valhalla 100mbit gear, my apologies for trying something different and not having it work. Its a hazard of my profession.
    3. I had no fucking choice but to shut down the fucking css competition because it was three fucking hours late - and being told BY VENUE MANAGEMENT that we had to be out by 9 (Reloaded has never run past 9). Even after i got an hours extension I was told it would be at LEAST THREE MORE FUCKING HOURS. SO dont you fucking dare have a go at me for being unreasonable. I did everything in my power to keep it going, not the least included blasting the fucking admins who turned shit off they werent meant to, having a very animated discussion with venue management and trying to stop my power admin from crying cause he was tired and had been at the event since friday morning.
    4. Dont fucking tell me to my my face that we've found a fair solution and then fucking backstab me on the internet, cowards. I STILL paid the money out, AND added additional prizes (as well as had several more fucking stolen shortly after).

TLDR version, sure the network could have run better, and I really do apologise for that. I was sick as hell on the saturday, and was still fucked on the sunday or i might have noticed that the 1.6 comp from the goddamn day before was being run A DAY LATE. That didnt click til later when i was wondering why css ran over time.

Yes, some of the admin team, including a first time reloaded admin, unplugged stuff they shouldnt have, and yes certain teams shold have sat where they were supposed to instead of millions of miles away. However ultimately the competition ended because venue management wanted us out. This was the reason all competitions were bought forward an hour or two on the sunday. We had no spare time available to us. Usually, Reloaded is packed up on the Monday and I have all sunday to do whats needed, St Clair changed that a week ago.

I may wish to edit this when ive had more sleep.

    at wookie.
I wasn't there, so this can be discarded if u wish.
Almost every LAN Comp with the prize money and teams attending on any level similar to reloaded with out exception has had issues, People will always bang on about how bad certain things were etc etc. You have the additional problem of BYOC.

I'm sure you spent considerable time and effort and made exceptions for all, but unfortunately there are always ungratefull bastards. On a whole though, there are always people who enjoyed the event, understood the issues and just got on with it.
And with out exception people will always attend the next one. Unfortunately its an issue with the community as a whole, we always find something to harp on about, even if the admins do their darndest to do it right.

I guess the major difference was reloaded wasn't all about CS:S like some of the others, I'm gonna thank you for your efforts though, it sounded like a hell of a lot of work.
Its always disappointing when you hear about people stealing stuff, its unnecessary especially after all the work you've put in behind the scenes.

Only LANs I've been to that have gone of with next to no over all issues are LAN cafe LANs and all of them have had issues too, but just ones we've been able to deal with.

Well done for the effort and sorry for the fucktards. I was actually wanting to attend reloaded, but couldn't. Yes I was disappointed with CS:S coverage though, but again Reloaded isn't all about CS:S :P

The LAN software set it out so two teams got knocked out first round but everyone kept saying the draw looked fucked up and Syntax wanted to go with the CEVO bracket (which essentially ended up as the same thing).

I emailed Gamestah twice asking if they had SourceTV relays they could use and they never got back to me. Syntax was kind enough to let us use the Gotgames ones but with such short notice it wasn't possible.

Network was fucked the whole LAN, nothing could be done to fix it. Source started on time but some teams ran into problems (dblstr's Steam wouldn't sign in so he had to borrow a USB Wireless Dongle just to auth).

Would of finished on time if the Sydney network mob didn't pull the network.

Looks like the people who were there and involved arent the ones on here complaining so wookie obviously looked after them as best as he could.

I didnt spend much time at the event only 11-7pm on sat and 9-12pm on sunday for the 1.6/fifa.

So i cant talk about source, but 1.6 delays had nothing to do with cloudstrike and the other admins im sure were working on the problems with the network. Which were basically random 30 second pauses/drops in connection, not general lag.

    ps. tf2 comp looked fun

Wookie and aetherone(I think?) were both scurrying about near the end trying their best to make it happen but it was just too late. What eventuated was fair given the circumstances. So I'd like to thank them, and anyone else who was still there for enduring.

The rest of the lan was pretty good. I liked the Audiosurf comp with one exception. The tracks wern't hard enough :O
I'm also getting a little too old for sleeping in plastic chairs, next time I might go home for the night.

Was a great event overall, sure the network problem was pretty fucked, but it couldn't be helped.

Lets be honest, playing in Reloaded is 239872345 times better than sitting on your ass at home playing scrims. Is it not?

Big effort Wookie, Cloudstrike and Syntax.

I think for medium sized CS:S comps like that you should follow the European way, 1st and 2nd place teams qualify from groups and go ahead to play in the Upper Bracket, then 3rd place teams go into the Lower Bracket, and await the losers from the upper bracket. I think it works well, and makes more sense
