How I fixed my CMN LAG

Hey guys, Every game this season cmn has made me spike to 200+ ping every 2 to 3 rounds. Fairly annoying because I am never used to spiking so much. Being on a Standard Telstra cable connection my upload speed is shit, around 100kb/s thus playing source and having vent and cmn open as well I get some serious lag issues.

Last night against crex I used Net Limiter Pro, trail program but will acquire full version soon. After logging into cmn I capped its upload to 900(Bytes), this meant cmn constantly uploaded at a slow speed instead of once every so often. Got an average of 25 latency all game.

I also blocked Myspace and Facebook through my router so my sister stayed off it while I was playing.

This option is a lot easier than going through that massive guide that foo posted up that may or may not work. If upload speed is your problem this will work.

i doubt it... wouldn't you have to be connected to cmn the whole time, if you put it on 0k/b you arn't sending any data and you would probably d/c from cmn and then you can dispute!

All he did was cap the amount of uploading CMN does per second. So instead of it uploading once every couple of minutes at your internets full speed, it just uploaded data for longer at a much slower speed so your internet was capable of running two things at once. Quite simple when you think about it, I am curious why this wasn't picked up earlier.

My Netlimiter version doesnt let you cap at 0kb. Hypothetically tho, if you were able to cap it at a ridiculously low rate (>900b), I would assume you'd get disconnected due to a lack of data flow.

My Netlimiter version doesnt let you cap at 0kb. Hypothetically tho, if you were able to cap it at a ridiculously low rate (>900b), I would assume you'd get disconnected due to a lack of data flow.

You can barely log in with 900b, let alone get a text message in. Just gotta do it when the game starts.

I have a Netgear router and the software with that has an option to block sites, either always, never or on a schedule. Also allows you to let certain computers use that site.

If you don't know how to get into your routers cfg/software, best you read up on it.

There's nothing stopping you from doing it, but it's at your own risk. It obviously hasn't been thoroughly tested so there's a distinct possibility that limiting the upload speed could lag you out of CMN, leaving you prone to forfeitting rounds.

is it worth even asking a higher us cevo official regarding this?

or does limiting cmn like this actually affect the amount of data it can upload, therefore it cant do its job properly, i dont kno, like to find out

its a very good find, i see no risk other then CMN timing out.
