#10. WaSteD - CSi, YGS, no Remorse, StensGaming, volatile/k9d.
Nathan Banks began his career in CSi, and quickly became one of the faces of Sydney counter-strike. Countless podium places in Sydney in arguably the most competitive era for sydney, Nathsted was considered one of sydneys best players. YGS was when naths career soared, winning lan comp after lan comp. The team is mainly remembered for its IHS win and and a hefty 7k purse. Wasted was the top fragger of the competition. After a few 2nds and 3rds over the next few years, it wasnt till ESWC06 where nR failed to get out of groups people thought maybe their time was over. This wasn't the case. Nath came back with a bang with fellow no remorse at WCG06 and earned himself a trip to Italy, he was a vital player in the teams success. With stints in SG, and volatile/k9d over the last year, now nath rarely plays which sees him at 10th place. Nath over the years was best known for his incredible aim, and relaxed gameplay. In my opinion lack of practice won't have a massive impact on Nath, but it will have some effect. He will be playing for k9d at WCG. #9th dav1o - Really? David Kaye.. if you don't know who davio is, you must have started playing yesterday.. You think of davio, you think of function zer0. Dave and his f-zer0 crew set the bench mark for australian CS for many years. Davio was always a key member in the wins, finishing high on the frag board, winning crucial rounds, and most importantly.. His leading. Davio is the best leader Australia has ever seen (Despite what Boomser might say lol). It's been a rough couple of years for davio, with several bad placings, and labelled 'burnt toast' dave is putting in the yards to prove the critics wrong. Dave has spent most of his career considered to be in the top3 players in Australia category, but it just wasnt possible to place him that highly now. I will say I am looking forward to this WCG as he will be leading one of the favourites 'encore', as they try stake their claim for the trip to Cologne. He will be playing for team Encore at WCG. #8th JAIRS - volatile, 96 Jess has been quietly destroying the Sydney scene for many years. He's one of those players who, if you play with/against him alot, realise hes a machine. Only recently has he put his Bid in to be in one of the primary teams in Australia. Coming off a 2nd at AINC with volatile, and honestly, an amazing performance by himself, he will be confident heading into WCG. An incredible awp is really his key to success, and with Australia lacking many quality awpers, this could be his time to Shine. Expect Jess to move up these rankings, that is, if he really plays to win. He will be playing for k9d at WCG. #7th gazR - xPosed, immineNt, StensGaming, iM. One of the most flamboyant and vocal players in Australia has become known as one of the top players alongside his long time friend benoR both hailing from Melbourne team xPosed. gazR has been playing cs for a long time but has only proved just how good he is recently with team StensGaming, all he needed was 4 capable team mates before he could prove himself and thats just what he did. He is regarded as one of the strongest awpers in Australia and is also a very aggresive player, but has the dynamics to hold a bombsite by himself when needed. gazR won his first national along with benoR in there stint with StensGaming and they both are usually the heart of any team they join. He will be playing for iM at WCG. #6th SoreN - encore, 96, SQL The majority of Sorens career has been in online teams. He first decided to go to a nationals when the original team encore needed a fill in. He performed decently, and with the taste of LAN, he wanted more. He then chose sydney lan team, 96 to begin his next journey with. This was a successful team, led by apoc, they surprised many with 3rd placings back to back at WGT and WCG respectively. Soren then went on to make SQL of 2007. Obviousely sorens most successful team. The team surprised the whole community winning AINC, WCG, ACNC, all back to back relatively easy. Soren is a fly under the radar type player, he won't be the star of his team, but he definitely won't let his team down. He is a benchmark player for consistancy. After his teams bad performance at Ainc08, encore has been putting in the yards, they went to Seattle last year, and they want to go to Cologne this year. He will be playing for team Encore at WCG. #5th pupajoN - coNdemned, NoR, SQL, encore. pupajoN is a player much like benoR in everyway, coming from almost nowhere to stardom at the top of the scene, his a player with incredible aim and one of the best 'clean-up' players in the country. PupajoN started his career out with local shire mates coN, a team that was never going to be a top contender but merely was a stepping stone for him to leap into better teams. He had his first real crack at winning a national alongside some of the best current players in Australia with SQL, he took it with open arms and dominated the competition individually aswell as providing a key part in SQL's WCG.Australia win. Overseas pupajoN was SQL's best player, amazingly 1v3'ing NoA, and going positive against the #2 team in the world at the time is a remarkable achievement for a player new to the top. pupajoN is still young and only has one way to go - up. He will be playing for team Encore at WCG. #4th ferg - DNA, aAa, SQL. The international pro coming back to Australia to play cs once again, Ferg has the most experience playing out of the country than anyone except maybe dav!O, kurandus, or fEZ. He's an extremely smart player with aim to match aswell, ferg has played in competitions most Australian cs'ers only dream about like CPL etc.. His strengths definetly lie in his experience and knowing what todo in certain situations and also the pressure he has felt overseas compared to playing a national competition here which would advantage him greatly. Not much was known about his earlier career in france or how good he really was untill he returned to Australia, but playing with a team like aAa you can bet he is one of the best players to ever come out of this country. At the moment I am not sure whether he will be playing at WCG. #3rd benoR - xPosed, immineNt, StensGaming, iM. benoR has come out of nowhere within the last year, from playing with local friends in xPosed he flew under the radar for a while before becoming noticed by StensGaming where he got his shot at the big time. benoR is renowned for having some say the best aim in Australia and an incredibly aggresive play style which can throw any team off-guard. He is still very young and has alot of potential to grow even more as a player, picking up more experience and brains the more nationals he plays and the different players he plays with will only help this young star grow even more. Having won his first national competition with StensGaming benoR picked up alot of experience playing on stage and in pressure situations. He is able to bring teams down by himself simply based on his aim and randomness. Can arguably put benoR in the top2 players and I believe in time he will be. I just think he still has improving to do. He will be playing for iM at WCG. #2nd rizE - XR, immineNt, SQL, encore Good old Miles.. began his career as arguably the biggest onliner in Australia. Hailing from team [XR] The best team in Victoria for 4 years, Though alot will argue he carried for his teams, but they still placed bad, Miles really didn't show his true potential in his first couple of years. Along came SQL. Miles took the scene by storm during SQLs reign, posting huge numbers. At AINC he was 2nd overall in frags and K/D ratio, falling only short to apoc. At WCG, Miles topped the stats, and played some of his best cs. This can be shown in the games verse Team Immunity on de_inferno and de_nuke, where he absolutely destroyed them. Definitely the smartest player in Australia, he is the player will win you a 1v3. This backed up with his incredible aim gives him position at number 2. He will be playing for team Encore at WCG. #1st apoc - ei, Sublime/ProGamer, 96, SQL, encore. Apoc coming in at number 1 spot in Australia, A player which has arguably been at the top for the past 3 years now has carried almost every team he has played for since he started playing. The type of player than will win games on his own, Hands down the best positional player in the country and impeccable aim that can blow a team away in the blink of an eye, He is the type of player that if you let him play his game he will pick you apart 1 by 1. Apoc started out playing with ei, a local sydney team and quickly rose to fame with teams like 96, Sublime/ProGamer, most noteably his performances at ESWC05 (6 30bombs over the competition) and overseas at CPL.SG with ProGamer where he was able to teamdown team wNv, the best asian team at the time. Incredibly apoc had not won a national tournament untill 2007 with team SQL, throughout his career he put up massive numbers at national tournaments but always fell short of the gold until the AINC tournament where his team blew away the competition without dropping a map, apoc had the best K/D ratio and most frags of the entire competition, also winning the source national without any practise. Just watch him play this WCG, it's odds on he will dominate. He will be playing for team Encore at WCG.
