It's a new 'rewards system' - basically if you submit accepted content to the site, i.e. a review, article - whatever you earn credit points which you can use to purchase things.

Not sure if the system is fully setup just yet.

I think thats the real problem here, too much emphasis on being an invite only site, that it forgets all about just playing the game. Love to see it get back on track with a good season, so good luck to it all.

They have to pay the guy coding the ladder, so I don't think they would've bothered doing that if they could buy a pre-made one instantly...Though maybe they are around somewhere...

I did ask the obvious question 'Why not get a big website design firm to handle it?' - basically they don't know the coding, aren't familiar with how ladder systems are meant to function (meaning there'd be a heap of Q&A just like there is now still) or would run away from the task.

The emphasis of 'invite-only' GG appeared to have was just because of GGS1's cash prizes. It won't appear like that anymore, and the GG staff would rather see it flourish with noobs and get a larger community hiz-appenin', whilst hopefully carrying on the uberness. But yeah, I'm aware it's getting a rather late for that heh.

But really, who knows. Wish I had some news/answers to tell ya'll!
