First car?

What would be a good first car for myself.

Must have:
4 Cylinder (insurance is too expensive otherwise)
Musn't be a feul guzzler

My mum thinks a mazda 3/6 would be good for me, personally i love the mazda 6's and apparently they have a lot of kick for a smallish car.

can anyone confirm is a mazda 6 is a good car

Price range 12,000-18,000

Subaru Liberty (Unsure of the engine specifics, may be 6 cyl?) are a great car, or the Impreza's obvs.

my next door neighbor had a liberty b4 (twin turbo model) and that thing was quick

Look for a non-turbo (p plate restrictions i'm guessing?) 02 model subaru liberty, or a subaru forester. You will have no real problems with them either (ie breaking down)

Sif get something like that for your first car, inter... You should get something cheaper for your first car so that it's not the end of the world if you knock it around a bit.

please please please do not buy a brand new car for your FIRST car. You may have a good price range, but lets face it... you are going to absolutely thrash it, being able to floor it by yourself is going to be too much to handle.

If anything get a good second hand car that will last a few years. I recommend Subaru, my first car (Which i still have) after like 2.5 years which had 300k's on the clock already and it's still going strong.

This is purely my opinion, as i had an accident and was a careless/overconfident driver. Really opened my eyes and that accident was actually good for me, so i wouldn't like to see you write off a brand new car. It cost me $1830 to buy it, and it cost me $1200 to fix it ~_~.

Yeh unless you're a rich cunt with plenty more where that came from then I suggest you take Ryu's advice. Keep that money for when you're on your blacks and buy like a turbo or supercharged car

they're both really reliable cars though, my friends dad had an old honda civic, and that things done so many kilometers and it still goes fine

so go for a subaru or a honda, can't go wrong

I wasn't applying it to his criteria. I was just saying they are really the only decent mazda's going. The 3's and 6's are rubbish imo.

the neighbours mazda 6 has been in the shop for about 4 months of the 1 year they've owned it. so i was a bit hasty in jumping to say they are ALL shit, but i've only ever known one person who has one and it's caused grief.

I'd still recommend a Subaru over them though..
