Firstly let me introduce myself in case there are people who don't know who I am.
My name is m1ke and I consider myself a progressive DJ. I used to play CSS and before that CS 1.6 which is how I am aware of this community. In case anybody is curious I played for Sykotic, GT.Esports, [GPO], iCHOR, iM (last two briefly) in CSS and I played mainly for melb LAN clan collusion in 1.6. I won several competitons on LAN with collusion and in source I just smashed heads a lot, including a stint in the aus team for the first aus v nz source match.
Musically I have had a rather diverse taste for a long period of time. I used to listen to a lot of 60s music when I was very young, particularly lots of soul music. Naturally listened to a bit of pop music when I was growing up before getting in to bands such as KoRn, Limp Bizkit & Rage Against The Machine. I was introduced in to the world of techno (real techno this is) by an older friend somewhere around the year 2000, listening to Melbourne legends Simon Digby & Will E Tell (Wetmusik).
I then moved in to trance such as MOS, Gatecrasher & Slinky mix CD's before finding "A State Of Trance" with Armin van Buuren. I listened to trance quite a lot up until 2004 where I started to get in to the more progressive side of trance.
Still keeping up my trance but expanding in to more mainstream house stuff until some point in 2006 where I started listening a lot more to underground sides of 'house' through guys like Sander Kleinenberg, Eric Prydz, Sasha & John Digweed. From there I haven't stopped exploring the progressive house genre until this day.
In short currently my favourite DJ is Danny Howells and my favourite producer is Eric Prydz. My personal style of DJ'ing various somewhat due to a similar kind of approach as Danny Howells takes to music. I don't pinhole myself in to a particular style, I play music that I like.. be it trance, minimal, house or even breaks. I have been DJ'ing since some point in 2005.
I was asked if it was possible to have an archive of my mixes posted up here and evidently.. I said yes. It is in order from newest to oldest, please note that (at least to my ears) the older mixers are a lot less technically sound. However that does not mean you won't enjoy them, some of the mixes aren't quite perfected in them.
Please don't complain about the use of rapidshare, it is the easiest way for me to host these files as I have no access to webspace. If i had access to somewhere, I would provide one-click links!
If you haven't listened to any of my mixes before, I have mixed a wide variety of sounds from pure trance all the way down to minimal.
I have a new mix in the works too, I won't guarantee it's out next week but I'm aiming for that! It's been a long time between mixes but I have had some other priorities take over my mixing in recent months.
Feel free to discuss what your fave tunes/mixes are, if lots of people show interest then I may make a 'best of' selection mix. We'll see =)
