GotGames v4.0 is live!

When a community moves forward, its website has to evolve and change with it. Before your eyes is the new look GotGames, but don't be fooled - there is much more to this change than just cosmetics. Along with the new look there are countless new features which we're excited to introduce to you.

These include:

  • News Ticker
  • File library
  • Features, Headlines and Events Tabs
  • News Commenting System
  • Support system with Live Chat
  • Web PUG

NEWS TICKER

The News Ticker is the first thing you'll see on the front page of the website. It catalogues and displays the most important event of the day in an easy to read fashion, and links to the relevant articles. This will allow even the most casual of gamers to keep in touch with community news and events without having to sift through forum threads.

FILE LIBRARY

The file library is still in development and we will be adding many new features over time. Here's a sneak peek of what's to come:

  • Ability for registered users to upload pictures, videos, demos and other files
  • Live streaming of videos directly from the library
  • A comprehensive, regularly updated library of all CEVO demos
  • Other useful downloads including WarMod, GUI files and other game addons

FEATURES, HEADLINES AND EVENTS TABS

An effective way of grouping related content. The front page will display random active articles, but from this page you can also use the tab system to find articles on your preferred subject. This For example if you’re looking for articles on Counter Strike: Source just click the PC tab, then Counter Strike: Source and all related articles will be displayed. Each section will contain all sorts of articles, including interviews, match and competition previews and reviews, event announcements, opinion articles and predictions.

NEWS COMMENTING SYSTEM

Unlike on the old website, article comments are no longer linked directly to the forums. We have developed a separate news commenting system for all articles posted in the respective gaming sections. All registered users can post articles and comments, so you no longer need to be a GotGames Writer to submit news to the community. All news submitted by regular members will be stored waiting for approval from Content Managers. Upon approval, your news will be published in the relevant section. When submitting news, make sure you include your full name and gaming handle so we can give you proper credit for your submissions.

SUPPORT SYSTEM WITH LIVE CHAT

Staff at GotGames are always doing their best behind the scenes to help people out, but to improve our response time we have added a Live Chat function to our support section. In conjunction with support tickets, you can now use Live Chat to speak to the first available official who will assist you as best as possible with your problems.

The support system can be found at www.gotgames.com.au/support/

WEB PUG

Twelve-60's ace in the hole. It's been a long time coming, but it's going to be worth every bit. By removing the technological barrier of IRC, the web PUG will enable the competitive CS: Source community to flourish. Players can simply visit the web page, start or join a pug, copy the server details and start pugging. Also included is a live chat feature to enable users to interact via the web interface before the PUG starts.

The web pug can be found at www.gotgames.com.au/pug/

These new features are all part of the new look GotGames. However, this isn’t the end of the road by any means. There are a constant stream of new ideas being worked on in relation to the website. We hope to bring everyone consistent updates and many more new features as GotGames continues to cement itself as the benchmark for eSports in Australia.
